Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Parent account information: name, email address, mobile number, and password (or Google sign-in), used to create and secure your account.
• Child profile information: a child's name, school, grade, and date of birth, entered by the Parent to personalize study content.
• Uploaded content: photos of textbook chapters, worksheets, past papers, and exercise questions uploaded by the Parent for a specific child.
• Study activity: study guides viewed, flashcards and questions answered, streaks, and progress, used to show progress and generate further practice.
• Usage data: basic technical data (such as app version and device type) used to operate and improve the Service.

2. How we use this information

We use this information to: operate a child's study experience (generating study guides, flashcards, practice questions, and answer explanations from uploaded content); track and display study progress to the Parent; secure and manage the Parent's account; process subscription payments; and review uploaded content before it's used or shared within a school's subject resources.

3. Children's information

HoTuto is designed to be used by children under a Parent's account and supervision. We do not knowingly collect information directly from a child independent of their Parent, and a child cannot create an account, provide contact details, or manage billing themselves. All child profile data is entered and controlled by the Parent, who can review or request deletion of it at any time (see Section 6).

4. AI processing of uploaded content

Uploaded textbook and exercise images are processed by text-extraction and AI services to generate study guides, flashcards, practice questions, and answer explanations. This processing is used solely to deliver the Service and is not used to build a profile of your child for advertising purposes — HoTuto does not run advertising and does not sell personal information.

5. Where information is stored

Account data is stored in our database, and uploaded images/files are stored in cloud object storage. Access is limited to what's needed to operate the Service and to review uploaded content as described above.

6. Parent controls

As the account holder, a Parent can update their own name and mobile number in the App at any time, and can contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their account and any associated child profile data.

7. Data retention

We retain account and child profile information for as long as the account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for legal, billing, or security purposes, unless a deletion request is made sooner.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
